16 and gauge 2-1/2" load data

Post by ylwdog »

I'm sure this question has probably been asked before but I could not find it in my searches. Does anyone know where I can get load data for 2-1/2" 16 and 20 gauges ? I have been searching gun shows, ebay and other web sites for old reloading manuals without success.
Thanks for any help.

Pretty much any data on a 2 3/4" shell is going to work in a 2 1/2" load. The main difference is in the wad column and crimp type. I use roll crimps on short shells and the same wad and load as 2 3/4". Depending on what hull you use you might have to change the wad to get it all to fit.

16 gauge 2-1/2" load data using a PW375C

Post by jentb737 »

If you are using a PW375C reloading tool to load your short 16 gauge shells and using a once fired light purple 2 and 1/2 inch 16 gauge RST hull I can tell you what has worked for me.......Jent

Check in at 16GA.com. My two favorite loads are Cheddite or Federal hulls Gualandi 1621 wad Winchester 209 primers, 17.5 grains of Unique and 7/8th ounce of shot and Gualandi 1618 wad 19.5 grains of Unique and 1 ounce of shot. Both loads are roll crimped. the one ounce load is in the 1150 fps muzzle velocity and 8900 psi chamber pressure range. The 7/8th ounce load is about the same velocity but chamber pressure is less than 8000 psi.
