Flat sided sterlingworth

Flat sided sterlingworth, I never saw one before. When were they made? There is no case color or bluing on the receiver, barrels have about 85% bluing , stock is in good condition. Barrels have no dents or buldges. Any idea of it's value, a ball park would be good. The man that has it is asking $800. Thanx, J. Espo

Check the ser. no., it's most likely a Utica gun made in the late 30's. If you like the gun, $800 is a reasonable price.

Fox-Sterlingworth Oddities – I have recorded a number of 12-gauge Fox-Sterlingworths built on case-hardened slab-sided SP-frames in the 132,xxx serial number range – 132,788, 132,790, 132,818, 132,896 and 132,902. Some years ago I asked Roe to check some of these numbers and the cards were just stamped Fox-Sterlingworth Standard, though one had been stamped Trap and that was crossed out. The next 12-gauge Fox-Sterlingworth serial numbers I’ve recorded 133,146, 133,305 and 133,521, all had draw-bolt frames. The next eight guns I’ve recorded are all Fox-Sterlingworth Wildfowls from 134,103 to 134,130. Next up are three 12-gauge Fox-Sterlingworth Skeet & Upland Game Guns – 135,623, 135,626 and 135,793. Do we see some kind of a trend here? Hmmm…
