Serial Numbers

Post by blindduck2 »

Hello to all.
I'm interested in a C grade, serial # 33915. The limited information I have indicates the year of manufacture was 1930. Since Savage Arms took over in Nov. 1929 would the gun be classified as a A.H. Fox or a A.H. Fox manufactured for Savage Arms?????? I guess I'm thinking of any affect on purchase or resell value. Any thoughts?

Normally Savage Arms produced guns are of the same quality as late Philly guns. Wood quality suffered in the later years.
Savage produced guns are not as sought after as Philly guns by collectors, but condition is the most important consideration when valuing a collectible gun.

Thanks for the info. Fox-Adm. Think I better try to find one with a younger birthdate.
