Michael McIntosh estate

Post by Flatlander Tom »

I noticed the McIntosh estate is listed on auction arms and I was suprised at how few guns were listed. There are lot of books and pictures and few guns. I talked to an individual at Field sport that was involved with listing the estate and he said he had only 10 guns and his one and only Fox was kept by the family.

As far as I know the only two Fox guns Michael owned were Philadelphia Arms Co. A-Grade serial number 203, pictured on page 104 of his book Best Shotguns Ever Made in America, and sold years ago; and a B-Grade Ansley H. Fox, serial number 15251, which he owned for about ten years. He describes 15251 and discusses its sale in The Double Gun Journal, Volume Five, Issue 1, which also contains my first article on Tobin shotguns. He also had the 20-gauge CSMC XE-Grade that will not be in the auction, as Connie has elected to keep it, according to the article in Shooting Sportsman, September/October 2011.
