Now that is cool, consecutively serial numbered guns…what’s the odds of that?!!!

This gun showed up this past summer. I had never seen a SW S&U with 30" bbls AND OPEN chokes. Nice gun.

Very interesting. The guns I've recorded in the 141xxx serial number range are all 30-inch SPECIAL ALLOY -- FORGED STEEL barrel guns. The guns in the 1411xx and 1412xx range have capped pistol grip stocks --
and those higher have the capless pistol grip stocks.

While generally speaking the 12-gauge Savage Fox-Sterlingworths begin appearing in the mid 128xxx range, there is a nest of Savage Fox-Sterlingworths observed in the low 122xxx range, most with 32-inch barrels, one of which sports a straight-gripped Skeet & Upland Game Gun stock. I don't know if it has been verified with a letter.

The great bulk of the observed 12-gauge Fox-Sterlingworth Skeet & Upland Game Guns have 26-inch barrels and are in the 160xxx serial number range. A handful of 12-gauge, 28-inch barrel, Fox-Sterlingworth Skeet & Upland Game Guns have been observed in the 1356xx and 1357xx range.

Well, as promised here are a few images of the 12ga SW S&U I have mentioned. Pretty unique S&U with the 30" bbls and the S&U choking... I would have expected to see F&F chokes. The original factory chokes remain intact. Gun weighs in at 7# 9oz These pics arent great but will serve the purpose.

Tom, that is a unique gun with the barrel length and chokes! I’m with you and would have expected a gun like that to be F/F! I have a SPE 12 ga. With 32” barrels and it is choked F/F! Love to see unique guns like these. Brett

Yes Brett, we like unique. I have to find the pics of the 16ga SPE S&U I had with factory 24" barrels & all the options. What a piece of wood on that baby!

PS guys- if you click on the above pictures they really enlarge & "pop".

Long trigger guard on that 30". Pretty neat and I'd say the gun from the front end to the back end is perhaps one of a kind.

I assume Dave is referring to my gun s/n 1220xx with straight grip S&U stock and 32" 2-weight barrels with intact F&F chokes. Regular S&U short trigger guard tang and DAH 2-1/4". Weight 7-8. I have a card copy and a Savage factory letter documenting the gun. frank

Thanks for everyone's contribution! I like these upland configured guns. I think they are great field guns. I just bought a 16 gauge skeet & upland that I look forward to getting my hands on!
