This morning my brother and I kicked off duck season in Michigan’s southern zone. I was using my C-HE and John was using his Gough era BE. There were very few mallards to be seen, but plenty of woodies flying around. We each got a wood duck and a goose in the morning. After lunch we went back out. I shot 2 woodies and John shot one. The shooting was a little slow, but it was a beautiful morning to be in a duck blind. We’ll be back at it tomorrow.

Re: Opening Day in Michigan
Thanks Jeff for posting. How's your new knee working out while ducking?
I owned a "C-HE" some years ago - although scoffed at by some here because it carded as a Heavy CE even though it was on the so-called Magnum frame and with 0-weight barrels. Kind of interesting, when I showed it F/S at the Southern to a well known dealer it went for appropriate premium dollars and directly into his trailer for a favored customer. Just goes to show how we didn't know everything back then, and knowledge of HE's had expanded over the years. Since then we've seen Supers with standard bores (not overbored) and they were readily accepted as the real deal and without any pushback. frank

Thanks Frank. The knee is a little tender in the marsh, but it’s working pretty well. Just dropped another woodie an hour ago.

Sunday, day 2. Not much action today, but with a beautiful sunrise and a brace of wood ducks, who can complain.
