This is on a Fox that I bought this weekend . Don’t think I have ever seen one like it on a Fox shotgun. Plus it’s attached with Phillips head screws.

No sir that isn't a typical Fox buttplate.

The early style butt plate and screws --

I haven't made a study of when they changed, but the early style was still in use in the 148xx serial number range.

Later style butt plate --

The earliest smallbore butt plates I've recorded are the later style.
