Blued versus CCH fox frame ?

Post by TRAVNTALL »

Where any later 12 ga Savage Sterlingworth foxes factory blued in lieu of CCH?

There is one more fox gun in that shop I may be interested in and it is marked on the barrels 2 3/4 chambers but the frame and FA metal are blued. At a quick glance it does not look like a re-blue but it could just be a good job.

I can get pictures if needed.

Many thanks,
Researcher

No! The only guns with blued (black gun metal finish) frames were the Savage era SP-/SPE-Grades both regular --

and Skeet & Upland Game Guns --

When Savage introduced their gussied-up J. Stevens No. 530 as the Fox Model B in mid-1939, it had a frame with a black gun metal finish. Flyer inserted in some 1939 A.H. Fox catalogs --
