One plum barrel how does this happen.
One rather interesting Fox A grade. Thoughts on how only one barrel could turn plum color? Honestly say I have never seen anything like this before. If this gun could talk it would have stories for sure.

w.a.g. with screws in rib, any chance its a cape gun conversion.screw spacing and placement not stretch to imagine rear site mounted there.

Would like to see the bottom of the tubes to see if there is any indication they came from different suppliers?

Hot bluing will cause the purplish color. Most commonly seen on some frames of economy doubles when they are hot blued. I cannot explain why the two different colors. Unless the steel composition was different originally.

Henry CB and then the last name on the trigger guard. Yes, really nice screw slots. Really wonder what that gun was set up for? Interesting for sure.

If I saw those screws on a shotgun, I would wonder if it was a cheap fix for a loose rib. Do you guys think it was for a scope????

If it was for a scope, it would have had to have been with a one-piece base.
What a pity to mar such a beautiful rib with those screw holes/screws. Fox guns were built with different width top ribs, but those extra-wide Fox ribs are among the most beautiful ever put on any doubleguns, IMO.

I agree, Stan. I have 2 C's with the wide ribs. I wish my H had the wide rib. Jim

When I see screws in the rib back near the breech, this is what I always think of --
