12ga Sterlingworth 2 barrel set

Post by fox-admin »

That was a nice 12ga Sterlingworth two barrel set that sold on GI by a dealer from Wisconsin. Nice early gun with bone and charcoal colors, didn't take long to get scooped up. The engraver must have been under the influence, the engraving on the left side doesn't follow the action. Part of the charm, the final inspector must have been out to lunch LOL. Congratulations if one of our members bought the gun. I can't remember ever seeing a righteous Sterly two barrel set, very cool.

If this is the one, I'm skeptical --

Serial number looks to be over-stamped to me. Double click on picture to enlarge.

David, You have pretty good eyesight for a guy of your age! I’m a similar age and getting mine tuned up next week. Craig and David thanks for all of your informative posts.

Maybe it's an illusion but that doesn't look like the correct "2" stamp.

The pic I'm attaching shows a better way to re-do serial numbers (and here along with the Grade stamp) when fitting barrels from another Fox. Microtigged and ready for the milling machine, before restamping with the correct font/size numbers (and Letter). frank
