Wanted to share my latest conquest, a minty 1928 XE, you guys all know what an addiction this can be. I feel the need to liberate these old guns from the closet or attic and get them back into the uplands... Steve

Longshot, What a beauty! What gamebirds are you going to hunt with this gun? Will you replace the squished pad?

Jim, I'm primarily a smallbore guy who only hunts ol' Ruff. Just wanted a big brother to the XE20 I picked up last year which we discussed on another thread. I was so taken by the condition of the 12 that I just had to have it. Literally " never had a screw turned", little wear on the flooplate but other than that retains all it's CC, blue and varnish. I don't believe I could bring myself to change the pad, it matches the squashed pad on the 20 exactly. The squashed pad tells a story. May take it out for sporting clays once in a while but other than that I'll just use it to win the Bo Whoop.

Exceptional gun, Steve. What are the chances of it surviving in that condition for 91 years? Just awesome. The guns were made to be used, and should be, IMO, but it sure is nice seeing one that was barely used for so long, and so nice.

Thanks guys, they do make a handsome pair, made less than 2 years apart, one has timing screw, sculpted breech balls and no rebates, and the other one just the opposite. The saga continues. I sure like those X grades. I hope I don't run into a 16 anytime soon.

Fowlgunner, I believe i'll just leave it alone. It tells a story of it's own and matches the one on my 20 pretty closely.
