Remington Shells
The other day a guy said, "I know you like vintage shotguns, so here are some shells." They don't look real old, but the boxes do have a nice, nostalgic look. Do any of you guys have a rough idea of when these shells were produced? Thanks, Jeff

Re: Remington Shells
The Remington shotshell fold crimp was introduced in 1939 and boxes carried the "New" wording for some years after that. Yours are probably late 40's to early 50's

Re: Remington Shells
Remington, Winchester, Western and Peters all added the folded pie crimp to their skeet and trap loads circa 1939. I don't have a 1939 Remington Ammunition catalog handy, but here are the shotgun shells from the January 2, 1941, ammunition catalog.
Remington Announced them on their Remington Express hunting loads in their January 3, 1947, ammunition catalog --
with Winchester adding them to their Super-Speed and Western their Super-X in 1948. Remington continued to use that green and red box through 1961.
In 1962 they introduced their Remington Express in the plastic case.
