New Fox gun

Post by Socko »

Hi, this is my first post showing a recently acquired (yesterday) 1920 A.H. Fox 16 ga BE with 28" barrels, choked IC-M with a single selective trigger. The gun is all original, including the butt plate. The bluing on the Chromox barrels is excellent, and the engravings are nice and clean.

Photography isn't my strong suit, especially with an iPhone...but I hope you enjoy nonetheless.

It does not look like it had many previous owners, and if it did they didn't hunt much. Tell us its history. Thanks

Hi MilRob---what suggests that the gun went back for rework? I expect to have the factory info shortly which will definitively tell us how the gun left the factory.

The gun was returned to Utica for some type of work and the chambers were lengthened which was standard practice. The extra chamber stamp on the left barrel indicates that.
There are no records for returns for repair so your letter will not mention anything.

A very nice gun. For the advanced Fox guys, check out pics #7 & 8. The finger tab on the forend latch is rounded on both sides. That isn't typical and it's open to speculation why that was done. Silvers

Silvers,

I kept looking at that picture and thought something was different but I could not for the life of me figure it out. I guess I just could not "put my finger on it" (bad pun intended)

I've never seen that before. I wonder why it was done and by whom.
