Sterlingworth 20 gauge field grade

We have a Sterlingworth 20 gauge, made by AaH Fox, Philly, approx. 1917. We need a checkered stock as the one on it is not checkered like original, and it was cut off. Looking for a stock and even a paired forend.

All suggestions appreciated. Maybe someone has a stock in their take off pile.

The chances of finding a take-off stock that will be a direct bolt on is only slightly above zero. The shape of the frame where the tangs joined changed over time. These stocks were all to a greater or lesser degree hand fitted, and fitting a used stock can be a nightmare that many stockers won't even deal with. Even if you did find a take-off, you are dealing with 70 to 100 year old wood and whatever indigneties it has suffered over that period of time. Plus there is a very good chance that an old Sterlingworth stock will have more drop than most shooters find desireable today. Far better off to get a new stock made to your dimensions.

Fox guns were individually hand fitted and can vary considerably from gun to gun. I recommend you contact a good stock maker such as Clint Meier http://www.cgm-gunstockcheckering.com/ and discuss your situation. His prices are reasonable and his work is first rate.
