My son told me he recently downloaded an electronic copy of the AH Fox book from Amazon. The download cost 48.00. Most other electronic books run about ten bucks. There was one new book for 185.00 and used from 150.00. The past book for a membership was one heck of an offer. I hope researcher can get a copy for his iPad!

Re: McIntosh book
Michael McIntosh's essays were very fine and I enjoyed them thoroughly. I must confess that I was a bit disappointed in his Fox book. There was a good deal of extraneous information about Ansley Fox's personal life and not enough material on the guns. The Gottschalks other industrial ventures also held very little interest for me. Treatment of the Fox automobile left me with many questions and few answers. More smoothbore illustrations would have been welcome, as well. The fine tomes written about Ithaca, Remington, LC Smith and even Parker doubles by other eminent experts are generally superior to Michael McIntosh's book about Fox. I hope someone will undertake a new Fox study. If it is carefully researched, entertainingly written and well illustrated it is bound to be a success. If, as many believe, the Fox gun was the finest in the world, it deserves to have the finest gun book dedicated to it.
