Well it really isn't new but it is pretty. Ken asked me to post these pictures for him so here they are.

Apparently Ken doesn't have enough to keep him busy so he's scratching on old Foxes in his spare time.

Thanks for doing the hard part of getting these pictures up Mr. Doug.

For those interested, this old S/W had a bad stock, overpolished action & bbl's with little blue ---- a perfect candidate for my kind of stuff. The gun was in good mechanical condition however.

In my part of the country (northeastern N.C.) we have wood ducks, black ducks and geese --- mallards too but I'm tired of doing mallards on my own guns. For the above reason, I deided to do a waterfowl 12 ga. that was a bit different for myself. Sorry about the burnt out detail in the gold inlays and background --- to much flash I guess. There is much more detail than visable but you'll just have to take my word for it. The stock is almost a full piece of crotch black walnut. To insure it was stable, I aged it for about seven more years after normal aging time. It is a straight grip stock with engraved hand made heel and toe clips and splinter forend. Point checkering pattern of 24 LPI. I will soon have action color cased by Classic Guns --- break lever and trigger guard will be carbonia blued --- bbl's will be rust blued. Ken

Bamboozler & bigkev ---- glad you liked my efforts. My next project will be a fancy back Parker and a fancy back/rebated frame with straightened tangs S/W. Both will be straight grip & splinter Turkish walnut. Like this gun, they will be dbl trigger & extracter. There are many old S/W guns out there that can be bought relatively inexpensively & made up into something special ---- depending on your taste. My design for the Parker & S/W will include raised steel inlays of the birds. The Parker is a 20 ga and will have dove & quail ---- the 12 ga S/W will have a raised /sculpted grouse and pheasant on either side. These raised steel inlays will only set up approx. .015" above the surface of the frame --- similar to the washington bust on a quarter. Seeing what I would have to pay for a similar Galazan Fox got me to thinking that a project gun could be built up for way much less. I have done more than a few of these guns for clients over the years and thought that I should take time to do another one for myself. Ken

DUH --- oh yeah, the wood. I hope to get my wife to get pictures of the wood , heel & toe clips and bbl engraving along with stocks in the near future. Will post same when available. ken

This one is simply marvelous.

The treatment of the trigger plate? (the part the goose is flying over) is really special. The combination of the screw engraving, the flowing swan wing scroll and the double border would bring a tear to the eye of Genghis Khan.

Sigh....

Ken, if I could look at and snap a picture of the finished product, I would stop by for a few minutes Thursday when I am passing through Robersonville. You are the man. Twelve bore and non ejector, the perfect all around pigeon and sporting gun, also just the thing for sunny day waterfowl. Thanks. Bill Murphy

Thanks Ken and Doug for sharing! I like original Fox's but at times I think I like the custom guns better.

I sure wish I would have jumped on a custom 16ga project I was offered about a year ago. Oh well you snooze, you loose!

Great work Ken, If I ever get around to doing a custom you will be getting a call from me.

8Bore ---- sorry but I made a mistake on when you could stop by. I have an eye examination Thur. prior to me getting a catarac operation on my one good eye. Perhaps you can get pictures when you, Steve and Beryl come down in Sept. Please email me that you have received this post.

Mr. Glenn, looks like this operation will definitely help me do a better job on your Fox --- this job was done with one eye and it has the thingy that has to be removed. I'm in hopes that this will help me improve my work level. ken
