Fox B with safety problems

Post by Texxut »

Here's what is going on.
Break the barrel and load both barrels.
Safety is automatically engaged.
Move safety to "off" position.
Fire first barrel.
pull trigger again, nothing.
Move safety to "off" again.
Fire second barrel.
I don't think the safety should be re-engaging, should it?
What could be going on here?

Any help is appreciated.

Model B or B grade? They are 2 different animals.

There's a thread right below yours with a similar problem; could recoil be resetting the safety?

The B model is a 311 Stevens on the inside. A friend of mine had a similar problem on a 311 that he had the stock off of for cleaning and stock refinish. There is a small spring and plunger under the safety button that was misaligned. He said you could figure it out easy enough with the stock off and moving it back and forth. I've never had my B model apart so I can't guess at any more than that. Those guns have a draw bolt in the stock so removal doesn't require much effort. After you get it off and have a look, you'll probably see whats going on in there. Fred

I pulled the stock and dry fired the gun. everything seemed to function normally. Right barrel fired then left barrel fired. locking lever reset safety as designed when actuated. Everything seemed to aligned properly. Took the gun to the range today. Pulled the trigger, both barrels fired in rapid secession. Almost sounded like one shot. Opened the gun, loaded two more rounds, closed gun, pulled trigger, left barrel fired. pulled trigger again, nothing. Opened and closed gun and pulled trigger again, nothing. I'm at a lose here, What could be happening?
