20ga CARD CHECK PLEASE # 264374
Good morning...I just became the proud owner of a 1933 20ga sterlingworth; 26" imp / cyl...real nice condition...This is a Savage, UTICA gun... BUT IT HAS A PHILA. FOREARM. I have seen this before.. assume these were some leftovers from the sale? It handles like a dream...as you can tell "Yes gertrude, I am excited!" this is the first 20ga i've had. I would like to get a "CARD" for this if possible. I think someone said we don't have access to sterlingworth info.;??? Anyway, here is the serial # 264374 any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a GREAT DAY: Pastor Ray ALL NUMBERS MATCH

Congrats on your find Ray. That is correct, the AHFCA doesn't have card copies for any Sterlingworths. You can get a "factory letter" on your gun from John Callahan, info on the home page.

Re: 20ga CARD CHECK PLEASE # 264374
The "Phily" style forearms were still in use well into the Savage era. The earliest 20-gauge "bulky" forearms I've recorded are on Fox-Sterlingworth Skeet & Upland Game Guns in the 2625xx range. I've recorded the slim "Phily" style forearms, the sleak top levers and the "Phily" style safety slides in the 263xxx range. Everything I'd recorded up to now in the 264xxx and higher range had the "bulky" forearms. Guess this gun shows the transition took longer. How about the safety slide and the top lever? Are they "Phily" style as well? Does your gun have the capped or the capless pistol grip stock? Is the checkering flat-topped or pointed up? Are the barrels "Special Alloy -- Forged Steel" or "Sterlingworth Fluid Compressed Steel"?
"Phily" forearm left, Savage "Bulky" forearm middle, and a 1936 Beavertail.

I see... I thought the implication was there was a way to tell the forearm was physically made in Philly. Dave's post confirms what I had previously thought... Savage continued building the early Utica guns as exact replicas of the Philly guns.
Ray, Post some pics! Lets see your new gem!!
