Re: Blank Canvas

Jeff, one can only assume that is what they were doing. I guess it is possible that they were far better shots than the rest of us and needed the extra challenge of “sighting” the birds!🤣 Tom, I have removed it and other than a little oil and gunk, there is a small little hole for the screw not much...

Re: Blank Canvas

Great canvas for a custom. Make it your own. The only thing between that and this: IMG_7158.jpeg Is this: $$$$$$$$$ Life is too short to hunt with an ugly gun! I really enjoyed following along when you built that gun. I've always admired the deep relief engraving on that gun. You certainly put toge...

Re: Blank Canvas

Jeff, yes that is exactly what has happened. Someone along the way has removed the pistol grip and it is evident in the checkering which they sanded away and never recut. They did a reasonably good job though the angle to the toe line isn't quite kept. Also, it has a Hawkins pad that has been added....

Blank Canvas

I thought about holding this one close to the vest, but after Tom shared his awesome score of his 20ga SKUGG I figured there must be a toothless hen around somewhere so what the heck! My recent score I will call “Blank Canvas” for now. I stumbled upon this 20ga Sterlingworth Ejector with 30” tubes! ...

Re: Repairing a forend lug

While I am no expert and will defer to any more knowledgeable members, I would offer that I know a man here in GA that does micro laser welding. Seems to me you could have him build up the hook or weld on a new hook to the old base and then you could file it to correct shape/fit and dress it up. Sho...

Re: Savage Era 16 Gauge Appreciation Day!

I'm always intrigued by the many variations of checkering patterns, especially on the fore ends of Fox guns. Seems there was not much rhyme or reason and the stock checkers just went with how they felt a particular day. I have a factory beavertail ejector fore end that doesn't remotely match any of ...

Re: New One for the Cabinet

I received the ledger on this Henry Atkin. Unfortunately, there was not much information detailing the shotgun. It was completed in 1901 and sold to Sir J Duke. It simply stated it as a 12 Bore, Best side lever, hammerless ejector, Number 2 of a pair. Some things I found interesting about this shotg...
