Philadelphia Arms 12 ga.

I have a Philadelphia Arms 12 ga. double, I believe it's a grade A, modified and full, with Krupp 30 inch barrels. The serial number is 671. The wood is fair, having been refinished approximately 25 years ago. The bluing appears to be original, about 95%. There is no case color visible on the receiver. Engraving is border only, no scenes, very clear. The gun overall is nice appearing, and shoots well. Does anyone have any idea what it might be worth?

An A-Grade Philadelphia Arms Co. Fox in average condition is usually about a $700 to $1000 item. Some big dealers are asking more, but their guns have been in inventory a looonnngggg time --

Many thanks- I have owned the gun for many years, as it was my grandfathers, and only recently found out what it was. I have been curious about it's value for a long time. Now when my son inherits it at least he will know what he's got.

Researcher, not to doubt your response but, I rarely if ever see any Fox in any condition for that kind of money. May I ask where you see these guns for under $1000. I can't seem to find them. The link you provided in the previous post even shows a mediocre gun for $1850.00

The Ivory Beads PAC gun has an asking price of $1375.00 and they have had it awhile.

Your not going to find them at Ivory Beads, Puglisi's, or Cabela's. They still show up at the smaller out of the way shops and gun shows, as well as at farm and estate auctions. But, with a Cabela's popping up at every major intersection the guys from the "gun library" are canvasing the small local shops for inventory for the big C and it is getting tougher.

When I was looking for my 12ga Sterly I heard lots of talk about $5-600 guns. Not saying it doesn't happen if you wait long enough, but what am I missing in the meantime? Plus, I wanted it in THIS lifetime
. So, I paid $950 for a Utica 12ga, and was damned glad to get it. Sorry; a few hundred bucks in today's money just ain't worth the wait and aggravation. If getting "the deal" is your thing, fine. It wasn't mine.

Julia's is estimating $800 to $1000 for the David Herrmann A-Grade Philadelphia Arms Co. gun with a nice Fajen stock in the upcoming auction.
