Fox Collectors

I came across some ejector sears that are a different size than regular 12 gauge parts for the 1911 Russell patent system. Actually two of the dimensions are larger. I'm wondering if they are for a 16 - 20 gauge ejector setup, or special ones made for something else?

I am attaching two pics of a regular 12 gauge ejector forend iron. Hopefully I can interest a smallbore ejector owner to help me out by doing some measuring on his smallbore iron.

If you have a vernier caliper that would be great. Otherwise use an accurate machinist-type scale. I've shown the measurement points with red dots on the two pics. Just measure between the dots and post the two measurements here. If my research partner is at our AHF Championship at the Vintage Cup, I'll buy you a libation. Thanks, Frank

Frank, I don't know how accurate the measurement needs to be, but if you go from the inside edge of one hole to the outside edge of the other hole, you'll be deadnuts on for the distance between centers. This will avoid a guesstimate as to where each center is. Fred

Fred, one of the pics I posted last night is the wrong one. I've corrected my original post this morning. The measurements don't have to be that accurate, so estimating the center to center is okay. Yes of course the inside edge to outside edge measurement would be the same. Frank

Thanks James. It looks like these ejector sears won't fit a smallbore Fox. Nor an HE - already checked. Right now I'm thinking they were machined wrong. No wonder they were so cheap... Frank

My yardstick said the same as Mr. Anderson's: 0.750" across the fore end iron flat and 1.055" at the end of the iron.

Frank, I believe all Fox ejector sears are the same size on the later style ejector system. I could be wrong as Russ use to say! Bobby
