I'm not the seller and I don't have any personal interest in this gun. Just wondering what you gents think of the project gun possibilities for this one? Interesting, its bores are mirror bright but not perfect????? Has anyone ever restruck barrels that have that much pitting? Silvers

We must watch the same websites. Dismissed the gun as to far gone with the deep pitting. Would rather pay more for a original gun in better shape. Under the forearm is quite interesting, what can you do with pitting that deep?

Witty, after a while we all find the same websites. I've had decent luck getting guns thru Gunbroker but maybe it's because I try to get all my questions answered first. The pitting looks pretty deep; I really don't know if/how that can be fixed. That's why I posted to hear if anyone has satisfactorily redone something like that. Frank

I'm not saying that gun was a good candidate for a restoration, but the barrels are probably still .730 inside. You take that baby home and strike on the pitted area as evenly as you can and as much as you have to to make it look pretty. Then you put your micrometer on the outside of the barrels where they were struck. That's when you make the decision whether you want to continue with your project of sell it off. Those barrels may have had enough meat to strike all the pits and still have nice barrels. That Utica stock is probably worth almost as much as the gun sold for.

Do you suggest a mill bastard file or disk grinder to do the barrels? Any ideas to do it evenly as you can?

I am quite the optimist. Obviously, this gun would have been a gamble.

MR. bill --- this seller lives colse by --- I called him last night and he siad that the pits under the forend were rather deep. He also said he had a few Trojans for sale. ken

Ken, maybe you should get on over there and snap up some Trojan project guns. New York engraver Steve Olin some years ago upgraded a Trojan into an A-1 Special. It was quite an interesting gun, retaining the original Trojan frame shape with no extra filing before engraving.

At one time I would of But, I have to many client guns to engrave & some of those pesky projects already in line. Ken
