The Gun seems to be in pretty good shape. Just wanted to make sure of what I had and make sure I was reading the proper numbers.

Great!! That certainly is serial number 901. Thanks for sharing. It appears to be in similar condition to other survivors. Better than some.

A new high number for my table of observed specimens. Are the barrels 30-inch? Does it have the word SAFE stamped on the top tang? The three earliest guns I've recorded didn't have that but all the later ones do. Does it have a plain checkered butt plate?

Do you have access to someone with a bore micrometer and/or have the ability to measure the chamber depth? The two Fox Gun Co. Balto., Md., U.S.A. guns I've had a chance to measure, 153 and 714 were both chambered for the old super long bulk smokeless powder 3 1/4 inch shells, and have had very tight bores .708" to .712". Appears from my limited sample, Ansley was going for a very good gas seal with those tight bores and chambering for those very long shells to get the much taller wad column.

The Barrels are 30" and it does have the word safe stamped on it. As you can see above the butt plate is checkered. I do not have immediate acess to a micrometer but i am going to take it to a gunsmith buddy of mine later this week and i will have him messure. It does appear to be chambered for a 3 1/4 inch shell. I am thinking about getting someone to appraise does any one have any thoughts on who would be good to do that? Thanks for the feedback.
