A higher condition, original, 30" 12 gauge non ejector Sterlingworth is still the best buy in a side by side for a lifetime. I wish I still had every example I ever owned, but the new owners are very happy. This is also most likely the highest production variation.

Going away it is the 12-gauge Sterlingworth. While 12-gauge Sterlingworth serial numbers began at 50000 and go up to 161556, there don't appear to be that many really made because there is a noticable gap of about 16000 guns in the guns observed in my 24 years of recording serial numbers from 1438xx to 1600xx. So, really more like 95500 12-gauge Sterlingworths. Graded 12-gauge serial numbers go up to 35281, so over two and a half times more Sterlingworths than graded 12-gauges. Smallbore production is far less. About 28000 16-gauge Sterlingworths and less than 4000 graded 16-gauges. While 20-gauge Sterlingworth serial numbers go from 250000 to 271304, like the 12-gauges, no guns have been recorded between the 2664xx range and 2700xx range. So, instead of there being 21304 20-gauge Sterlingworths there may really only be around 17800. In the graded 20-gauges serial numbers go from 200000 to 203974. The tabulation Roe Clark did for McIntosh's book shows no production cards from 203241 to 203500. So, there may very well be less graded 20-gauges than the 3974 the serial numbers alone would suggest.
