Fox Collectors

I purchased 2 trigger guards from Tony at the Safari Club in Reno in January 2006. At the time I purchased I asked if these were the same as used on his Foxes.I don't know if the trigger placement on the CSMC if different than the original but it does not fit. I am stocking a 20 gauge and replacing the pistol grip with an English grip guard. Has anyone had any experience with these trigger guards?

I bought one I never used. While OK for a custom redo, It didn't seem to be very near a direct replacement for a guard on a vintage Fox.

In addition to what Mike wrote, I remember reading somewhere that the thread on the front of the guard is different (metric?). You may want to check that to verify. Beyond that I can't help much. All the Foxes I had converted to straight grip were done by "stretching" the original tigger guard tail to dimensions taken from an original straight grip guard.... 12 gauge or smallbore. Silvers

I have already re-threaded for the new guard. It is 6mm x 1 thread. The problem is that the rear of the bow is too small to accomodate the rear trigger. I suppose I could heat and bend and reshape the rear of the bow but it may look misshapened for the guard bow.

Re my thread of 8:19 this am. Since I had already rethreaded for the new guard, I had no choice but to make it work. With a little patience, a lot of resolve and sufficient acetyllene, I have reforged the trigger guard bow to make it fit and it looks as good as the original. Necesssity creates a lot of offsprings.

Jim,glad you got it to work.I have fitted several Galazan guards.I drill a tight hole in a hardwood block,screw the guard in and take a rubber hammer and hit the front of the guard bow to move it back some to rear. Bobby

Bobby That is essentially what I did. I drilled and tapped a metal plate, screwed the guard to it, mounted it in my vice and applied heat to the front of the bow. I have some 2" aluminum round stock that I used against the bow and tapped it with a medium sized ball peen hammer. It took several times of heating and tapping before I got it to fit the way I wanted. I was able to control the shaping of the rear of the bow by using heat. I have seen some custom jobs that could have been greatly improved if they had payed more attention to trigger placement in the guard bow. By the way, if you need round stock for shaping something, a 1/2 or 3/4 socket extension works pretty well. Jim
