Fox Collectors

for the first time this season; my wife and I finally manged to get out turkey hunting this morning . Well maybe I shouldn't call it turkey hunting. It was more of a nice hike on the mountain while a carried a shotgun to build upper body strength. Today I pulled the Fox AE 12 gauge with the 32 inch barrels out of the safe. It throws a nice even and tight pattern it seems like it is the perfect tool for the job.

We got a few toms talking but couldn't get them into gun range. Maybe this evening we'll have a little more success with the turkeys. I've got the rest of the month to find my tom.

The morning wasn't a complete bust, we did collect a few pounds of black morel. The chance at finding morels is why the wife was will to roll out of bed well before dawn. It was a perfect morning, we had a great time on the mountain and we found some fine mushrooms. Maybe today was a success.

Our season in MS ended this Tuesday. Due to some personal issues I've not been able to think turkey let alone get out after them.

Tell us more on the AE. Grip? Barrel weight? Chokes? Photos?

You're all are going to have to help me on the barrel weight. The upper/left barrel stamp is kind of weak and could be a 3 or 5. The bottom/right barrel is a 5. If I remember correctly there is 0.040 barrel restriction in both bores measured with Universal shotgun Bore Gauge.

I'm not really a Fox guy but I would call the grip a half pistol grip with a round knob or Prince of Wales.

Very nice looking gun. Hope you get to use it on a nice tom turkey before the seasons ends for you.

I also like the looks of those morels. I used to tag along with my grandparents when I was a kid helping them find those tasty morels. We called them sponge mushrooms but morels I guess is the proper name.

I made a mild attemp yesterday in our woods looking for some. Didn't find any. Not sure if I'm early or late. Our March average temperature here was warmer than Aprils average temperature. Not sure what that might have done. Couple warm, humidish kinda days coming in the next couple, gotta look again.

wow, what a beautiful gun and the day sure sounded successful to me!! Morels are great and I love to find them in the spring also!

I suspect your barrels are 3 weights... the right barrel looks to have been stamped upside down. Never seen a 5 before.
