Thanks for the very kind words. I was disappointed the photo's are on the dark side but I am learning. The DE I wrote about is a truly beautiful example and I am very lucky to own it. I have had one more article accepted and plan to submit a few more this winter after the hunting season. There are so many very cool AH Fox guns that were produced it is fun to write about them. Keep up the good work. I have been disappointed at the lack of Fox articles in the recent DGJ's. So it was refreshing to read about your DE. I look forward to reading more in the future.

Regarding the gold oval on Fox 34646 on page 47, the surname of the owner with initials "L.P.W." was Warren. Mrs. Warren consigned the Fox for sale at A&F in 1947. It was sold to S.D. Ripley. I do not have the given names of Mr. Warren but could probably find them if it was important. Fox 25989 (page 52) is also in the records but I have already done a letter for the owner.

Of all of the firearms in the Fall issue of the DGJ that mention serial numbers, at least four appear in the VL&D or the A&F records. Also, that Westley Richards on page 110 is described as going to VL&D but the serial number was not provided in the article.

Craig My DGJ arrived today. Thanks for the great DE article. The Fox articles have been few and far between. I am looking forward to your future articles. Also thanks for the information from Bob Beech at G&H. I was fortunate to have a gun go through his place twice. Bob sent me a ton of information on the gun and the previous owners.

I just got my DGJ yesterday and just finished Craig's great article. Nice to see some Fox exposure in the DGJ again. That is one fantastic DE. Was your early mentor at Vanderbilt Mr. Bill T?

And also the service that Bob Beach provides with his historical letters he provides thru G&H on guns that were sold thru A&F. He did one for me on the DE 12 SN 25989 Craig mentioned in his article that was sold thru G&H back in the late 1920's. An unbelievable amount of info on that buyer. Enough that I had contact with one of the sons of the original owner who as you might expect, is quite elderly but very sociable.

Thanks very much-----The positive feedback I have received from friends and advanced collectors like Jolly Bill and Loggy make it very rewarding for me. Yes Bill, Bill Towner introduced me to the world of Fox guns and duck hunting. 25989 is a fantastic gun and I am so glad we were able to put 25989 and 25828 together last fall.

I am not sure what the significance of 25,989 is, but we are waiting patiently about "Our Fearless Leader's" DE historical information. It seems that the Dupont connection could lead to some interesting information. Is that true, Craig? Did the seller provide any clues?

Bill: I did have a few small pieces of information and ended up at Washington Lee University where many of the DuPont family records are stored. A research assistant searched the available family gun inventory (incomplete) and the DE did not appear. I believe the gun may have come from Marie DuPont Levering who was married to a JP Wade Levering. Marie DuPont Levering's father was Alfred DuPont. I can find out very little about Alfred except he attended the U of Pennsylvania. Alfred may have been the original owner. So nothing yet. By the way I am not "Our Fearless Leader's" , Paul Plunkett is the Executive Director of the AHFCA.

My gun DE 12 gauge SN 25989 could be considered a stable mate to fox-admin's DE. Otherwise, no significance or relationship.

25989 was sold thru A&F and through the fine efforts of Bob Beach's records research at G&H, the gun went to a well to do gentleman in Kentucky and whose son I had the pleasure of talking to over the phone.

I am of the opinion that this is a Levering gun, as the seller probably told you. If you came upon this information from someone other than the seller, let me know.

Bill you are correct, that is the name I got from the seller. I am at a dead end for now.

Did the seller tell you about another gun that filled in some blanks about the Levering connection? wilmrph@verizon.net

Bill: No the seller did not tell me about the other gun(s) in the collection but you told me about it in the past. Craig
