I recently purchased a sterlingworth that was for better words is fairly bad shape. The previous owner blued the reciever and the barrels had several problems as well. I would like to restore the gun and at least to make it a respectible shooter again. I know the reciever and forend metal were case hardened...how about the trigger guard and triggers? I have seen a few pictures of Sterlingworths that appeared to have a blued trigger guard. I'm currently polishing the blueing off the reciever and will reblue the barrels. Just wanted to know if any Sterlingworths had blued triggers and trigger guard.

Yes on the triggers and trigger guard.

Yes, what Marshfellow said. Dont think I've seen blued triggers on an original Fox. Trigger guards were 'charcoaled blue', or at least highly polished bluing; The terminology can get mixed up somewhat, what with abbreviated emails, etc.

Thanks to all.....I'll probably use Belguim blue for the trigger guard....although I can do charcole blue as well....I'll post some pictures once I have completed the job.

I have niter-blued trigger guards and other furniture before (non-collectible guns, of course). It is really easy and I got good results. All you need is some potassium nitrate (AKA stump remover). PM me if you want the details.
