Sterlingworth Chokes

Looking at my Great Uncle's 12 Ga. Sterlingworth, which, according to Mr. Roe left the factory with Mod and Full chokes. The barrels measure:

Right - ,729 with .020 choke
Left - .726 with .044 choke

Is a .044 choke unusually tight?

Some original Fox full chokes on standard frame guns are that tight. HE Grade Foxes can have chokes into the mid 50 thousandths range.

Not at all unusual for an 80 yr old gun. I think .040" was pretty nominal for full choke. My 32" 12ga SW was originally 42 & 43.
