My Father-In-Law gave me a wonderful Christmas gift of the above shotgun... I have just started collecting and he was not sure about the gun only that it had been in the family for some time and knew nothing more...

I was hoping to add to the family card the age and any other information that I could find. The family came from the Erie, Pa area if that helps at all...

Help please...

Sorry to see no one has got back to you yet... might be better posted in a different forum ... There is not much to tell from what you have provided so far other than its a 12gauge Sterlingworth which is the lowest model that Fox made... that said, its mechanically little to no different than all other Fox guns, the only real differences being quality of wood used and engraving level. I don't know the year off the top of my head but probably late teens if I had to guess. There is some publicly available information for aging a Fox but I understand its not perfect. If you really want to add some provenance. You can write to the Savage Historian and include a check for $30 and the serial number and he will provide a nice letter on Savage letter head giving all of the build data for your gun if its available. Contact information for the Savage historian can be found on the home page.
