Fox Collectors

Hello all,
I'm a new Fox Sterlingworth owner...I've never owned a Fox gun before. I've got a couple of questions that may be basic, but I don't want to hurt my gun. The gun is a 12 ga made in 1913.
1) How do you remove the forearm?
2) When I slide the safety tang from safe to fire, it catches...meaning, if I apply sufficient pressure, the tang easily glides from the safe position to a position very close to fire, then with more pressure slides just a little further. Has anyone else noticed this?
I have to confess, I haven't shot the gun yet, so I don't know where "fire" is...I could be at the catch, I suppose.

Ask questions,we all had to learn these things! Your sterlingworth has a snap on forend.To remove it just insert your finger under the tip and pull down and forend should come off.Do this over a bed or something soft the first few times until you learn not to drop forend.On the safety it should be markd safe.Push button foward to cover safe up and it should be ready to fire.Your gun may have an automatic safety that returns to safe when you open the action.if not then you have what is called manual safety that you have to slide fully to rear. Thanks for the info. The forearm did indeed pull right off when I pulled on it...I was leery of doing that until someone gave me the green light
I'm still not sure about the safety. I've packaged up part of the gun, and I'm sending it back to Briley today so the experts can look it over.
