Fox Collectors

Looking at a bunch of Fox guns over the years I have a theory. If the forend metal is originally blued then the action was bone and charcoal colored. If the forend metal is case colored the action and forend are cyanide case colored. What say u??

It appears to me that forearm irons were color case hardened up well into the 13xxx serial number range. In the 14xxx range I begin seeing the blued forearm irons.

Thanks Dave for the clarification. Are all the blued forend guns bone and charcoal case colored? When the switch bask to case colored forends was made, are all the guns cyanide CC?

That sounds like a good theory. I think it will take someone who has examined a lot more, high original condition, guns to speak to this definitively. Jolly Bill? Tom Kidd?

I can't help. I would just be guessing as I never paid that much attention.
