can anyone tell me what a good ballpark price would be for a marlin model 90 over and under 16 gauge ? i am looking for one as my great grandpa had one and i love old double barrels i own several side by sides but only one over and under there is one on gunbroker but it seems to be fairly high priced for what i can find doing my own research i attached the link. i would also be happy with a Sears ranger/Jc Higgens but other than gun broker can anyone recommend any good websites/places to get one ? i understand they are more of a utility gun than what is normally talked about here. from what i can tell they seem to be good guns. thanks for the help.

The gun referenced, 7710, is a pre-WW-II 16-gauge with an after-market solid rib added. Don't know what that does to value, but it sold cheaper than the asking price for three of the four 12-gauges on Guns International.

Thank you sir Where did you find info on the serial number I always have trouble finding Marlin serial number information.

What I have found on my internet searches.
With no prefix to the serial number they are 1936 to 40.
B = 1941
C = 1945
"c" = 1946
D = 1947
E = 1948
F = 1949
G = 1950
H = 1951
J = 1952
K = 1953
L = 1954
M = 1955
N = 1956
P = 1957
R = 1957-58 The pre-WW-II RANGER Model 103s also have an R before or above the serial number.

Also, circa 1950 Marlin eliminated the side ribs on the barrels.

This thread got me taking a deep dive into things Marlin Model 90/Ranger Over And Under Model 103-?-. Over the years I've seen lots of examples of utility grade American shotguns that GI's got upgraded in occupied Germany or Japan after WW-II. I'm thinking this 1949 Model 90 20-gauge may top the charts,

Wow that is a nice one ! I was the one that ended up buying the one on gunbroker hopefully I am happy with it when it gets here I have bought “good” stuff online and been disappointed and have also bought “parts” guns that turned out to be good guns. My great grandfather had the Sears version of this gun in 16 gauge so it will be nice to get a feel of what he shot.
