Another 4E Followed Me Home

It was a crazy week of wheeling and dealing selling three SxS's, an SBT and an O/U all to make room and free up some $ for another 4E but it was well worth it imo. Today I brought home this 1928 Ithaca NID4E 2bbl set 16ga. What a little beauty on a frame that feels no bigger than a 20ga. Both barrel sets are 26". Can't wait to pummel some Greenheads over the decoys with this one!

I have a very late, the serial number chronology says 1941 but Walter had no info for a letter, No. 4E 16-gauge with 26-inch barrels 1 & 2. Over the years the checkering got coarser and the forearm pattern got much simpler.
The NID period catalogs say the 16-gauges were chambered for the 2 9/16-inch shells until the 1934 catalog when they went to 2 3/4-inch.

Yes I will be sending for a letter. Interesting info on the chamber lengths. I ordered a case of RST 2 1/2" 7/8oz loads to put through the ole girl!

I'm sure it will be. It fits me wonderfully from what I can tell w/o having shot it yet, coming to shoulder and pointing. It feels so nicely balanced. Can't wait to get it in the field!

Yes I don't know what is going on? Suddenly they are coming out of the woodwork almost daily. I only had this one a few hours and was given a heads up on a Grade 4 NID non-ejector gun.

You have to buy them when you see them because having them fall out of the trees is not normal.
Statistically you could be heading for a huge dry spell!
Get em' while they are hot!

My 4e 16 gauge is the best shooting gun I own. It love it! This thread is impressive knowing how few 4e 16 NID were produced but yet there is 3 in handsome condition within our small group!

Agreed! Three beauties out of what I am told is likely a production of less than 100 4E NID's in 16ga!!! It is awesome to see them still doing what they were made to do!!
