I'm not sure about nice, but Galazan's sells a Hawkins reproduction pad.

A vendor at the Vintage Cup had a bunch of NOS Hawkins trestle and straight slot pads in the smaller size, and some of us who were there stocked up at $30 each or $50. for two. They were good ones and didn't last long. Be careful. Some of the NOS Hawkins pads being sold by folks on the internet apparently were rejects and their black base piece rippled during the vulcanizing process = not uniform thickness. I suspect they were overheated. I bought three from a fellow a year or so ago and two were bad. They looked crappy when fitted and I had them replaced. Lesson learned. As the story goes a large stockpile of NOS Hawkins pads were found in a garage in the midwest. I've heard the bad pads were in this lot and conjecture they were rejects brought home by a factory worker. I do not know if that story is true.

Regarding the repro Hawkins sold by Galazan it is a good product but is the larger size more suitable IMO for the buttstocks on 10 gauge and heavy frame 12's. Frank

I'm sure the Galazan repop pad is good, if it is like their Noshoc which is good in my opinion for $30.00, but as Frank said it is just too big for a 16 ga. If I can't find a good sized original then I may have to make an appearance at the Vintage Cup this year to snag some for myself.

I agree with Frank on the size of the Galazan pad of being big. It's huge! Wouldn't fit on my 16 which is short, tried to give it to a friend for his N.R. Davis 12 ga and it still dwarfed the butt stock. I don't think I've seen a 10 ga that big. Sent it back and got the bore and cylinder gage, I'm happy with it and will create some interesting posts when I have time.

Anyway if you find a good source please let us know

Galazan has an original for sale in the novelty gunstock section. It is 140.00.

Wow! Sounds like our members who went to the Vintage Cup, the Fox table and our Championship shoot did pretty well. As I recall they were $30 each and 2 for $50. for either the trestle type or the straight slot one. They didn't last long. Silvers

Yep I saw that "gold plated" pad. Decided I can wait for another one to surface.
