How far back do the Fox record cards go? I'm considering sending for a factory letter on my 1909 A-grade.

Factory records go back to 1906, but there are gaps. The only way is to tell is order a letter. If the record does exist and the gun is of standard configuration about the only information you will get is the original consignee, ship date, grip style, DAH, chokes, barrel length, weight, and LOP.

Which is often worth the effort. I had my 16ga Sterlingworth lettered. Interesting that it was sold to a dealer in Cuba. I purchased it from a dealer in PA. Makes me wonder how much more of the world it has seen.

Some years back a friend had a great 28-inch barrel DE-Grade 12-gauge for sale that had French proof marks. Shortly after he sold it it showed up on a big Texas dealers web site for 1/3 more.

Foxhound: The Fox cards go back to about #9648 with about 10 misc. lower that, so if you're above the 9648 you might have a chance.

i tried to get a letter for a B grage serial #7995 and mr.callahan wasn't able to find it.he did tell me that it was built in 1907 some of the records are missing that early.1909 i would try a letter!
