Burt Becker

Post by 6pt-sika »

I just reread in George Bird Evans best of Nash Buckingham that Buckingham claimed he was told Burt Becker at one time worked for Parker and was supposedly the one that made the Parkers for the Colombian Exposition . I am wondering if this is known to be true or known to be false ?
Parker’s , Mannlicher Schoenauer’s , 6.5mm’s and my family in the Philippines :!:

Born in 1871, Burt did a four-year apprenticeship under Dan Lefever, leaving in 1889 to work at Baker Gun & Forging Co. I know he was at Ilion working for Remington by 1895. I have an 1895 photo of the men of the shotgun department and Burt is in it. McIntosh writes he "built six fine double guns for display at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition, held at St. Louis in 1904." Burt probably moved to Philadelphia during 1908, as he first appears in the 1909 Philadelphia City Directory.

Columbian Exposition, 1893. St. Louis Exposition, 1904. Two different shows.
