The 1908 Sporting Life Year in Review only listed 200 Straight Runs:
W.H. Heer, Arnold’s Park, Ia., August 26
Fred Gilbert, Council Bluffs, Ia., November 17
Joe Kautzky, Jewell, Ia., November 28

The ad appeared in the April 1909 Rod & Gun in Canada



and this in the April 1909 Field & Stream

A very similar article by John Kautzky, with most of the same pictures, is in the Winter Issue 1963 of The Iowan.

Several of us had the privilege to handle, and shoot, Joe Kautzky’s Fox while at Hausmann’s.

More info on Josef Kautzky and his Presentation Fox XE is in the DGJ article by our Tool Man (Steve Cambria), Volume 24, Issue 2. Steve refers to his Fox as Special K and as Jeff posted he kindly made it available to several of us shoot and rub off some DNA while at the Northeast SxS last weekend. I also thank Steve again for letting me pic it along with a special Parker owned by a shooting contemporary of Kautzky in Iowa; a nice reunion of sorts. frank

1966 letter from Joe's brother Rudy, outlining "Special-K's" provenance:

thanks so much tool man,that is one of the most beautiful foxes ever. it was upgraded when new barrels were fitted, did grade stamp on watertable change to reflect this? i am proud for you .all the best,fred ps looking again at pics, does grip [wrist] have diamond x section?

Dick Baldwin did a chapter on Marie Kautzky in his book The Road to Yesterday. In most of the pictures I've seen of Marie, she is holding a Parker SBT.
