Serial Number

Post by N9460SDEB »

My brother-in-law inherited a A.H. Fox Sterlingworth 12 ga side by side Philadelphia with serial # 73636. From this information can anyone tell me much about this firearm?
Thanks.
I think I am going to take it over to Darlington Gun Works in Darlington, SC for evaluation for him.

That is a 12-gauge serial number. The production cards are at Cody and you could get a letter on the gun --

The Sterlingworth was a made-for-stock, entry-level gun and there is not a whole lot of information on the cards.

It looks like it was manufactured in 1913. Might not have been sold that year
