Fox Collectors

I am sharing few pictures of my custom Fox that all started with a conversation with Chris Dawe. For those that do not know Chris He resides in Newfoundland and owns and operates Stillwater Restorations.
While hunting in Arizona for Mearns quail and a trip I made to Newfoundland to hunt we had a number of conversations about building a custom SXS. We decided on using a Fox Sterlingworth 20 gauge with 28” barrel and ejectors.
I am posting some pictures of the work completed so far. Chris has built a number of beautiful custom Doubles and I had particularly liked the Foxes that he and Lemieux Armuriers have teamed up on.
A little over a year ago I purchased a 20 gauge Sterlingworth and started the process of exporting it to Canada.
This was followed by selecting a blank from Cecil Fredi in Las Vegas, Chris custom crafted the metal, carved a stock and forend, and then sent the metal off to Paul at LEMIEUX Armuriers.
The engraving of the metal has been completed and is now on its way back to Chris. Chris will have the metal case hardened, complete the metal French gray process and checker the wood.
So far ever step in the process as far exceeded my expectations.
I will post additional pictures along the way as the project nears completion.

Thank you guys for the positive feedback. It’s something I wanted to do for a long time so happy it is coming together so wonderfully. Right now it looks like I will be shooting quail later this fall. Now to find a nice case.

I love that you are planning on taking it hunting. Good on you, don't need more safe queens.

What an amazing example of gunmakers art.

I do have a question with these Fox upgrades. Given the age of the donor gun will you use low pressure loads like RST in the Fox or can you use any standard 2 3/4 load?

I use RST shells in all my vintage guns. Will use them in the Fox. May not be necessary but ammunition is the least expensive cost of hunting.
Plus I like supporting small US companies. The quality is excellent. Also shooting quail over my dogs does not require high pressure loads.
