So it looks like "Jolly Bill" has an early A that has the same flourishes on the trigger plate that sn200029 has, but Bill's does not have it elsewhere. That they used the same flourishes seems to give creedence to the engraving on 200029 being a factory variation. There is something different around the breech balls on Bill's gun as well. Can't wait to see what else pops out of the woodwork.

That is the same as my 8887 gun. It is amazing the detail variation. I guess we are too use to mass production and machine engraving.

Thanks Kevin. PS. 32" sterly 20 gauge. Saw one of those the other day. Then the dog barked and I woke up and realized is was all a dream.

Yeah; I have similar dreams from time to time; the last one I was at a gun show arguing with a dealer about the originality of the recoil pad (you couldn't make out the name on the back of it) on a 32" Sterly 20 ga;. straight grip with about 75% case colors and around 90% barrel blue. The wood hadn't been cut so original factory LOP but a VERY sloppy pad job!! He wanted $2800 for it and wouldn't budge and wouldn't take a check - cash only! I was ready to "wad out" but the backup horn on the recycling truck coming down the driveway ruined the whole deal!!! K
