Nashville Gun Club just announced that it’s reopening tomorrow. Clubhouse is closed, and appointments/reservations are strongly recommended.

Stan I am amazed how many targets Rochester Brooks has been selling, $10k per week, that's like 45k targets per week. NYS opened the golf courses and marinas that may reduce the number of shooters. We are still allowed to have a beer and cigar on the clubhouse

Rochester Brooks must be a very large club. I'll wager most of those targets aren't sporting, but rather skeet and trap, no?

Four of us shot the advanced 100 bird sporting course at Bay Gall Saturday morning. It was a beautiful day, and it was good to be out. Saw no other shooters, but heard one group on the course as we were finishing up. I had 400 targets loaded onto my card before leaving, so I can go back and shoot alone, if need be. The Promatic controllers can be set for a delay, if shooting alone. There were some long, FITASC-like, target stations intermixed with closer stations. I was using a 1 oz. load of #8s at 1150 and my MX8, choked .020" and .020". It broke those long birds easily, but I fumbled some of the closer stuff. Every bird except one that I missed was because I put too much forward allowance on it, or the wind got me. Funny how new sporting shooters tend to shoot behind when they miss, and almost never miss ahead, but more experienced shooters tend to miss ahead much more often than behind. I managed an 86, which was not too terribly bad on that course with the wind gusting as hard as it was. One of my buds outshot me with an 89. He is a big believer in using very open chokes, using a -.005" much of the time (that's .005" more open than cylinder). He chips lots of birds, but on a windy day it pays off for him. I outshot him handily on the long, fast stuff but he got me back on the close stuff, and one nasty incoming rabbit in particular. Gusty winds and tight chokes can be tough on closer stuff. I'll get 'im next go 'round.

Stan the trap and skeet fields are closed. I think guys are stocking up on targets the same way their wives are stocking up on toilet paper. One our smaller local clubs had to close because they ran out of targets, apparently white flyer is not shipping. Anyone else hear that?

Rochester Brooks is a great club with excellent clays courses; I shot there often when I was into NSCA competition shooting. Not really all that far and a nice ride from our digs and I'd usually trailer my cart. Actually I'd been planning to do the RB Spring Deuce NSCA Registered Shoot early next month but see that it's been cancelled. Just an aside and a little humor, the Spring Deuce has long been and commonly called (tongue in cheek) the Spring Douche amongst the NCSA competition shooters here in PA. The event's common name is of course used in Webster's strict sense, i.e., a spring shower.

Craig, when you say they are selling targets I thought you meant they are selling them and loading them on cards to be used at some future date. But your last post sounds more like you mean shooters are actually buying cases of clays. I'm a little confused (which is nothing new for me ).

White Flyer has targets in inventory and will be opening up manufacturing again in a week or two. They said they will service their current customers first and any newbies after current ranges are taken care of. Fortunately we had a delivery of targets two days before the mandatory shut down so we're good for a while.

The Washington Post (Metro 'Isvestia') VA version reported yesterday that the No Va Regional Parks Authority announced that local golf clubs and the Manassas (Bull Run) Trap and Skeet Shooting Center will reopen this Friday, 8 May 2020. No word yet on the reopening of the great shooting complex at Prince Georges (NASA) facility. Kevin

Well I never thought I would walk into a bank with a mask on. Strange times.

Pintail Point Sporting Clays in Maryland, home of the Vintagers a few years ago, is now open and offering a promotion, at least on weekends, of two hours unlimited birds, for $75.00.

Opening for members only on May 9.
