Early "A" Grade restoration
Re: Early "A" Grade restoration
I put a few pictures up under Early A Grade 12 Ga., 30" Barrel. Not sure if I did it right, but you can get a pretty good idea of the condition of the gun. It looks like the metal had a little rust in a few small spots years ago and was refinished once at least. The repair in the stock looks decent but probably won't hold if used regularly. The mechanics of the gun seems solid. The bluing is faded, the engraving is worn, the safety slide switch is a little crooked and beat up some. But for a hundred year old gun I think it looks good. I just wanted to bring it back to it's original state so it could used for another 100 years. But how many guns could I buy for the $8500 Turnbull wants to restore this one???

Just looked at your pictures... the cracked stock is the only thing that I would worry even a little about and if you get a good repair on it, then its not a big deal to shoot.bkm3062 wrote:I put a few pictures up under Early A Grade 12 Ga., 30" Barrel. If you want it to really look nice... you can do a lot of work yourself... have the receiver sent out for re case for not that much money...there are plenty of stock guys out there that are more reasonable than galazan... its sort of like being your own general contractor and you don't have to do everything at once... just my $.02 and I am no pro...
Cheers!
