Foxnut,
Upland hunting is from sea level to about 8,000 or 9,000 feet in elevation on six of the eight major islands, Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai and Hawaii Island (Big Island). The Big Island has the most state land available for bird hunting and the largest number of gamebird species. Most of the hunting on the other islands are on private land.
Here's a link to the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) website showing the species and island where they can be found. The turkeys are Rio Grande. https://dlnr.hawaii.gov/recreation/hunting/bird/
