Old ‘33 and a woodcock
When you hear “33”, I’m sure that many of you instantly think of an ice cold bottle of Rolling Rock beer. However, that’s also the nickname that I’ve assigned to my 16 ga. “early” A grade (serial #300033). Well this afternoon I got a little tired of household chores and decided to go for a quick hunt. There’s a nice spot about an hour north of me and after 2 hours I had 6 flushes. Miraculously, I connected on the first flush. That little 16 is a great gun.

Seem to recall that gun. Lightest Fox I have ever held. Was bought from a dealer who thought it was a Sterlingworth because of the snap on forearm.

You probably shot it better than me.

Killed a ton of Woodcock with it and few Grouse. Easy to carry in your left hand, when you are pushing through Greenbrier with your right hand.

Nice Jeff. Did Old '33 see any time in SD?

No, I’m afraid that Old ‘33 never made that journey. With 26” barrels choked I/C and mod it’s more of a woodcock gun, but I’ll bet it work if used properly.

Looks like Ole 33 treated you right. I think it’s time Ole 33 joins Rosey and I for a little walk through the tangles of aspen, autumn olive and oak saplings!

Jeff, looks like Ole 33 did you right! I think you need to bring Old 33 on a walk through the Autumn Olive, Aspen and Briar thickets with Rosey and I!

Hi Jeff - You do well with good ole 33. Not too surprised with how well you shoot your 16's. And by the way, if it's an early A 16, the serial number you give, 30033, needs another digit.
