Post by LFirearms »

I recently acquired a Fox Model B and would like to verify additional info on it. Possible year, rarity, etc

While that little .410 is probably a lot of fun to shoot and carry, we don’t have any records on it. It says “Fox” on it, but it was built by Savage and NOT to A. H. Fox patents. Consequently, it does not fall within the scope of this group. However, there are some members that may be able to help. Jeff

Various versions of the Fox Model B were made from 1939 to 1987, but Savage only offered the Fox B-E in 1979 and 1980. From the 1980 Savage catalog --

A version only offered two years and being a .410-bore appearing to be in high condition, that is quite a find. The checkering on the grip and forearm was shown as impressed in the 1979 catalog and cut in the 1980.

Wow, what a nice example, and an ejector model to boot! The condition is noteworthy! I never realized the "E" , as stamped, was a smaller font size than the "B".

Thanks for posting the excellent pics, and to you Dave, for the always pertinent data.
