I wanted to extend an open invite to anyone in the area that wants to shoot some practice/warm up with their old Fox guns before the upcoming SxS events.
I typically shoot Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays, or skeet at Rural Sportsman Associated in Trexlertown. Any and all are welcome.
I was also thinking of trying the old M&E sporting clays now called Keystone Clays. They are now open on weekends again and have a nice woods course that would be good for SxS shoots.
I haven't touched my SxS Fox guns since last year so it should be tons of fun going from a 32 inch 8.5 lb target gun to a 6 lb SxS with tons of drop so I'll need all the practice I can get!
Lehigh is a very good course and I've shot it quite often when it wasn't so busy most all the time and was less structured. It sounds like you're into the sporting clays tournament circuit as many I know did in the past to compete for punches and have now backed off to some extent. Just offhand I can think of quite a few AA and Master class NSCA shooters who are AHFCA and PGCA members who've more/less moved from competition stackbarrels and gas guns to classic side by sides. Several of us will be doing a warm-up at Rock Mountain Sporting Clays on the day before Hausmann's Northeast (Wednesday May 31) and all are welcome to join in. Those interested should be there at 9:30 -10 am. frank
Hi Frank, Yes Lehigh is our “home” course as it’s only 30 minutes from my place and my kids like to shoot the blue course but I do avoid it on summer weekends. Friday afternoons are not bad.
A friend peer pressured me into joining NSCA a few years ago and I did have fun getting punches and moving up in the classes. I’m kind of stuck in AA I just do not shoot enough registered targets to get my 20 punches for misery class!
Thanks for the invite to Rock Mountain great venue! I’ll have to check the work schedule I had only planned to take Friday off for Hausmanns.
I need to retire early so I have more time for important things like shooting and fly fishing!
