Pin guns
What was the typical drop at comb and heel on the early Sterlingworth “pin guns” ? I seem to have acquired one but haven’t had it in hand yet .

Re: Pin guns
I have owned several over the years. Mine have generally been between 2 3/4" and 3". Earliest ones were super well made imo.

Re: Pin guns
1 1/2 and 2 3/4 I suppose I can work with . Might even see if Patton will bend it for me .

Re: Pin guns
I can shoot a gun with too much drop much better, and easier, than I can one with too little. I absolutely refuse to float the bird above the bead. I'll bend the wood, or sell them.

Re: Pin guns
To many years of trap and skeet I like floating the bird . The drop thing I never paid much attention to until I started trying to shoot 6-12 different guns over the course of a weekend . In the trap/skeet days I shot the same K-32 for both with a high comb stock and just changed barrels for trap or skeet . I also think my flexibility and ability to deal with extra drop has changed as I’ve gotten on in years .Stan Hillis wrote: ↑Mon Sep 05, 2022 8:09 am I can shoot a gun with too much drop much better, and easier, than I can one with too little. Re: Pin guns
Picked up the cobbled up pin gun yesterday at Prosoect Hall from Honest John
Gun sure has a buttstock addition but it feels good and doesn’t look to terribly bad . With the flat Galazan choke gauge I got lite mod in the right and full in the left . 30” barrels which of course was a help in selling factor .

Re: Pin guns
Think this is the sixth or seventh Sterlingworth I’ve possessed over the years and the Parker/Fox is the best feeling of the bunch . Amazing how much the hinge pin makes a difference
All my bs aside this gun does feel pretty darn good in the hands , I had a 30” Trogan about a year ago that was a nice enough gun but I think this pin Sterlingworth feels a skoosh better in my hands . Now by no means does this thing feel as good in my hands as the VHE 32” vent rib trap gun or the DH 2 frame 32” 16 or the DHE 20 gauge 30” straight grip . But it feels pretty darn good for what it is .
