Duck hunt to end 2020

Post by Stan Hoover »

Thought I would share a few pictures of our duck hunt on the Chesapeake Bay yesterday, it was a day after my son Shane’s 15th birthday, it was his first duck hunt on the Bay and he was thrilled, we had a great time. We had good shooting although the variety was a little limited, later in the season after more cold weather shows up, there will be more different kinds of sea duck. We did get real close to shooting our limit of Bufflehead ducks. So a great way to end a year with not so many great memories. I will say our family had a good year regarding health, so we are thankful for that, Wishing all fellow Fox members a Healthy & Happy New Year!

Beautiful pictures Stan. Nice shooting, and even better to do it with Shane. Great memories! That's a nice Fox. A 20 gauge, A grade with 30" barrels and a single trigger. Quite a package! Is that the original case color? Jeff

Great pictures, Stan! How do you cook your Buffleheads? I have only shot 1 Bufflehead and it ended up in a white bean duck stew with other species of ducks.

Jeff,
I do not believe the case colors are original, funny you ask that because I was looking at the case colors while waiting on duck. To my eye, they do not quite look right for bone charcoal case hardening which is how I think these were originally case colored? This gun has a number of things that have been refinished, but I do enjoy shooting it for what it is.

Jim,
I've always been told, you don't want to eat divers, so I guess I'm guilty of never having tried them.

Stan, I think Buffleheads taste good in a stew. You should try it.

Great post, Stan! Looks like a prime duck day on the Bay; cloudy with a little breeze. The far shoreline and the large riprap looks like a club setting we had down on the Choptank River at Cambridge MD for some years, but no pavement like you're standing on. Kevin
