Good times worth the sorrow

Post by setterspell »

Finally had to let Carmel go a couple of weeks ago. Diabetes, loss of sight and hips eventually won at 12+ but She was a trooper til the end. Still working through the grief process. I'm going to miss so much about her. There will be yet another Setter who will own us like the rest have done, just not right now.

No matter how many times it happens it still takes a piece of your heart. RIP Carmel.

So difficult to loose a pup especially one you have spent time with in the uplands or marsh. All us dog lovers feel your pain.

For Terc and all you other dog owners/lovers,

It’s amazing the devotion a dog can have with his owner. The sad part is knowing some day you will have to say good bye. Not a pleasant thought.

This is a good way to remember her, sharing pics with fellow dog lovers. It really is a grieving process. Hunting, through the years, creates a very strong bond, if the owner is a caring person. All aren't.

I have also witnessed grieving by the dog when the owner passed first. I once saw a dog travel to the cemetery where his owner lay buried beneath the fresh, red Georgia clay and lie on his grave for several days without leaving. How that dog knew his owner and lifelong friend was beneath the mound of dirt I'll never know, but he knew. Children finally came and got the dog and took him with them, or he would have grieved himself to death right there, I believe.
